Meryl Streep has filed an application at the United States Trademark Office to trademark her name in order to give her exclusive rights to its use in the entertainment industry in respect of “live, televised, and movie appearances”, as well as “speaking engagements” and “autograph signings”.A number of Celebrities have turned to the law to protect their names from unauthorised commercial use some of which include rapper 50 Cent, David and Victoria Beckham, Jay-z and Beyonce and heiress and socialite Paris Hilton.
