The Cambodian Ministry of Industry and Handicrafts as well the
Japan Intellectual Property Association (JPAA) are finalizing the details of a
memorandum of understanding for the recognition of Japanese patents in Cambodia.
Japan is the 3rd largest investor in Cambodia and has been its biggest
donor for many years.
The agreement is beneficial for the following reasons;
·
It will provide guidance in commercial arbitration cases in which
Japanese intellectual property is involved.
·
It will enable the ministry and Cambodian law practitioners to
benefit from JPAA’s knowledge and experience in the field of intellectual
property law.
·
The cooperation will allow Cambodia to gain experience, raise skill
level and attract more Japanese investors to Cambodia.
·
Under the collaboration, Japan will share with Cambodia
innovations in the field of intellectual property.
